Utah HERitage

One hundred fifty years ago, the first vote under a women’s suffrage law was cast and counted. That happened in Utah. At that moment, Seraph Young and her vote changed women’s lives in the United States forever. Utah women later fought alongside their fellow Americans to pass the 19th Amendment. The 19th Amendment extended women’s voting rights throughout the United States, but the struggle for suffrage continued beyond 1920 for many women of color. We witness the legacy of these great leaders every day in strong, influential female trailblazers across Utah. Catapult helped develop events, materials, and promotions to honor Utah HERitage and the first women’s vote. In coordination with the State of Utah, educational kits were researched, designed, and distributed to schools. Students across the state helped produce over 40 social media films about their favorite women throughout history. This extraordinarily successful campaign is helping men, women, and children to learn about, honor, and celebrate their Utah women’s legacy of leadership.
